Biography

Applegate, Mary K. (Dutton), age 91, formerly of Monticello, IN and a resident of the Medway, OH area since 2006, where she resided with her daughter, Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at The Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Jamestown, KY on July 30, 1918 to Frank and Ada (Garrett) Dutton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Applegate in 1988 and her 11 brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn (Earl) Fear, of North Platte, NE, Marilyn (Sam) Rowland, of Medway, OH; 8 grandchildren, Brad and Gregg Fear, Darsha Pelland, all of NE, Rhonda Thobe, of Huber Heights, OH, Sandy Ackley, of Englewood, OH, Shawn Doepel, of West Carrollton, OH, Chuck Rowland, of New Carlisle, OH, Shannon Henline, of West Carrollton, OH; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of V.F.W. Post 2231 Ladies Auxillary , The Rebeccas and the F.O.E., Monticello, IN Aerie. Mary attended church in Delphi, IN and was an avid quilter, who loved flowers and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m.Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Reverend Don Payne, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday. Interment will take place on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the Chalmers Cemetery, Chalmers, IN. If desired, contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer’s Association.
