Biography

Chmiel, William H. “Bill”, age 59, of Block Island, RI and formerly of Beavercreek, OH, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Dayton, OH on July 9, 1950 to the late Henry Chmiel and Kathleen (Werling) Chmiel. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Chmiel. Bill is survived by his wife, Teressa “Terri”; his mother, Kathleen Chmiel, of Dayton; his children, Jennifer and husband, Rick Buchner and their son, Chase William, of Brunswick, OH and Ryan Chmiel, of Phoenix, AZ; brothers and sisters, Phyllis (Roger) James, of Kettering, OH, Ginny Settembrini, of Xenia, OH, Norma (Steve) Seaberg, of Enon, OH, Janet Chmiel, of Riverside, OH, Steve (Jan) Chmiel, of Kettering, OH, Don (Jamie) Chmiel, of Lebanon, OH; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was a graduate of Carroll High School, Class of 1968 and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1970-75. Bill was the former co-owner of Precision Certified Welding, Inc. He and Terri have enjoyed his semi-retirement on beautiful Block Island for the past 6 years. Prayers will be held 9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. from St. Helen Catholic Church with Father David Brinkmoeller, presiding. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009.
